In our world of emerging infectious disease, DNA based diagnosis has the potential to be transformative for human and animal welfare. As with many successful technologies, current methods have been designed and researched for western markets to the exclusion of developing markets. The Primerdesign Research Foundation (PDRF) exists to bridge this divide by performing vital, technology based research. Our mission is therefore to make DNA detection technologies more widely accessible by researching and simplifying the fundamental components, making it more cost-effective and requiring less technical expertise in more basic point of care settings.
The potential benefits of DNA based diagnostics are fully recognised by global heath care organisations such as the Gates Foundation, and PDRF is committed to working with partner organisations and other stake holders to realise these challenging objectives.
PDRF is the charitable arm of PrimerDesign Ltd . As such it is fully vested with the expertise of a successful commercial organisiation in this field. PDRF therefore has ability to design and manufacture prototype kits for any real time PCR based system using a wide range of chemistries.
